Register for a VIRTUAL art class as we create a series of three paintings showcasing Missouri’s state symbols! For our third painting, we will paint a Hawthorn, Missouri‘s State Flower. This painting project will help you spring into your creative side!
Gather your own supplies and follow step-by-step painting instructions, led by volunteer Gala Keller. PLUS learn some fun facts about hawthorns! Small canvases and simple techniques used, no painting experience necessary. Great for kids and adults, lots of fun for a family evening!
This 90-minute program is suitable for adults and youth (ages 6+). Please register with a valid email to receive the program link and a suggested list of supplies. For those that have registered, the supply list will be sent out the week of the program and once again after registration closes. The program LINK will be sent on Thursday, May 2nd. If you do not receive the link, please check your email spam folder.
Registration is required by Wednesday, May 1st. Only one registration needed per screen for multiple participants at the same location.

Get an up-close look at the fascinating feeding habits of Missouri venomous snakes! Join Powder Valley naturalists virtually for the feeding of our captive snakes while learning more about the interesting lives of both copperheads and timber rattlesnakes. Please register all individuals who will be watching the livestream (including children) so that we may get an accurate total for the amount of people who participated in this program.

Learn how their histories, personalities, and their influence has impacted how they are perceived and seen by mankind.

Copperheads conjure up curiosity, mystery, and even fear. In truth they are one of Missouri’s most intriguing and often least understood venomous snakes.
Dr. Ben Jellen has conducted a study of copperheads at Powder Valley Nature Center over a period of five years. Learn about his latest findings at this special virtual presentation.
