JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Missourians can take a trip through their state’s conservation history starting April 14. That is when the Missouri Department of Conservation’s 75th anniversary documentary will begin airing on television stations statewide.
The half-hour television special is titled The Promise Continues. It traces Missouri’s ground-breaking conservation movement from the formation of the Restoration and Conservation Federation of Missouri on Sept. 10, 1935, through the rebuilding of the state’s forests and restoration of wildlife from deer and turkey to bald eagles. Archival photographs, sound recordings and film footage help tell the story of how citizens and the professional agency they created turned Missouri into a great place to hunt, fish, hike and enjoy nature. Missouri’s healthy forests, fish and wildlife have been sustained by successful conservation and are the foundation of Missouri’s economy and quality of life.
