JOPLIN, Mo. – Trees are planted for many reasons, including aesthetics, wildlife habitat, shade, energy conservation, erosion reduction, and in remembrance of an event or person. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds landowners that when adding trees, planning should come before planting.
To help people learn about planning and planting processes, MDC will hold three free tree selection and planting workshops in southwest Missouri in March. MDC Community Forester Jon Skinner will discuss the steps involved in evaluating a planting site, selecting the appropriate tree for that site and getting that tree in the ground and off to a successful growing start.
