ASH GROVE, Mo. – One of the keys to a successful hunting trip is an obvious one – you have to find a good place to hunt.

People interested in getting information about good public hunting areas in this part of the state should plan to attend the July 20 Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) program “Learning to Hunt: Where to Hunt? Public vs. Private” at MDC’s Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. This free clinic will be from 6-8 p.m. The Dalton Range is located near Ash Grove at 4897 N. Greene County Farm Road 61.

At this program, MDC Outdoor Education Center Specialist Keith DeBow will talk about the hunting opportunities people can find at a number of MDC areas in southwest Missouri. In addition to talking about the locations and regulations at these areas, DeBow will discuss some of the advantages public land hunting offers and he will also discuss hunting strategies, equipment, and other details that increase hunters’ chances of having a successful day in the field. COVID-19 procedures will be in place during this workshop.

This program is for all ages. People can register for this event at:

Program registrants should note that they now have the option to link their children’s accounts to their own, which will streamline the program registration process. Once a group account is set up, parents will be able to register their children for an event without having to log-off or log-in for each person. This allows parents to register an entire family or select family members for an event at the same time.
