KIRKWOOD, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center wants to see how its visitors connect to nature with their cameras. The nature center is issuing the last call for entries in its 2019 Amateur Photography contest. Deadline for all entries will be Dec. 1.

This photo contest is free to enter for amateur photographers of all ages and includes separate categories for youth and adult photographers. To qualify, photographs must have been taken at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, or nearby Emmenegger Nature Park and Possum Woods Conservation Area, or Claire Gempp Davidson Memorial Wildlife Area.

“Last year’s 2018 Amateur Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center Photo Contest was a big success, with 36 photographers submitting over 100 photos,” said MDC Naturalist Shelly Colatskie.

Winners will be announced in an MDC press release and their photos displayed for public viewing at Powder Valley’s exhibit hallway in February 2020. For more details and a contest entry form, contact Shelly Colatskie at shelly.colatskie@mdc.mo.gov, or 314-301-1506 ext. 4222. Entry forms are also available for pick up at the front desk of the nature center.

“We look forward to seeing how Missourians will discover and enjoy the outdoors through photography again this year,” Colatskie said.

Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center is located at 11715 Cragwold Road in Kirkwood, near the intersection of I-44 and I-270.
