National Geographic Adventurer of the Year to present at MDC’s Runge Nature Center

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) welcomes National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Jennifer Pharr Davis to Runge Conservation Nature Center on May 26. Jennifer’s program will start with a hike at the nature center at 5 p.m. She will present in the auditorium with storytelling, slide shows, and readings from her new book, “The Pursuit of Endurance” at 6 p.m., and will conclude with a book signing at 7 p.m.

Davis is a hiker, author, and speaker who holds the fastest known time for completing the 2,185-mile Appalachian Trail. She has covered more than 14,000 miles of long distance trails on six different continents, and has written a number of books including guidebooks and hiking memoirs. Her latest, “The Pursuit of Endurance,” reveals the secrets and habits behind endurance as she chronicles her accomplishments in the world of endurance hiking, backpacking, and trail running.

Davis is a professional speaker who has shared her trail adventures with corporations, conferences, schools, and libraries across the country. She is a board member for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and an ambassador for the American Hiking Society. Davis is also the founder and owner of Blue Ridge Hiking Company, a guiding service that strives to make the wilderness accessible and enjoyable for hikers of all ages, genders, and ability levels.

This event is free and open to the public, and will take place at Runge Conservation Nature Center, 330 Commerce Drive in Jefferson City. No registration is required.
