Kansas City, Mo. -- Mary Silwance of Kansas City reeled in a big bluegill at the WOW outdoor education camp on Sept. 22 as her daughter, Imani Im, helped her celebrate the catch. They were among the 120 attendees at the event designed to connect families with outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, archery, orienteering and boating. Families camped on Friday night at Camp Lake of the Woods in Swope Park. On Saturday, they went to the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area near Lee’s Summit for outdoor activities. The event was hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Kansas City Parks and Recreation and the Wonders of Wildlife National Outdoor Recreation and Conservation School.
