Clinton, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a Day at the Range event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at the Golden Valley Shooting Range west of Clinton in Henry County. This event is a great way for newcomers to be introduced to the shooting sports. Youths are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Experienced shooters can learn new skills or sharpen old ones.

MDC’s Golden Valley Shooting Range provides year-round opportunities for shooters to practice skills or sight in rifles. For this special event, MDC staff will be on hand to assist shooters with questions about shooting techniques, firearms and ammunition. The special use permit side of the range will be open for pistol shooting, and conservation agents will be on hand to assist participants at the pistol range. The rifle range with targets at 25, 50, and 100 yards will be open.

Participants can also try their skills at the trap shooting range. Shotguns will be available or visitors may bring their own. MDC will supply shells, targets and ear protection. Bottled water and cookies will be available at the 50-yard shelter.

MDC’s Golden Valley Shooting Range is located six miles west of Clinton via Missouri 18 and County Road SW 100.  For information about Day at the Range, call 660-885-6981.
