SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites youth, ages 11–15, to register for a Hunter Education skills session and a mentored youth waterfowl hunt in the Sweet Springs area Dec. 11–12.
The Hunter Education Skills Session will take place 8 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Sweet Springs Community Center, 322 Spring St, in Sweet Springs. A live-fire session will immediately follow the class. The mentored youth waterfowl hunt will take place 5 a.m.–12 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, at a nearby location.
In order to participate in the Hunter Education Skills Session, students must bring proof of completion of the MDC online knowledge portion of the Hunter Education course, or a Hunter Education booklet with completed chapter reviews. Access the online knowledge portion at hunter-ed.com/missouri for a $19.95 fee, or request a book be mailed to you for free by calling MDC at 816-622-0900.
A $20 refundable registration fee to the Missouri Hunting Heritage Foundation (MHHF) is required to reserve a spot in the mentored hunt. Registration fee is refunded upon request after attending the clinic.
In addition to completing their Hunter Education certification, a supervised live-fire session, and mentored waterfowl hunt, participants will receive a t-shirt from MHHF and will share a group meal.
