Kansas City, Mo. – Learn about maintaining handguns and reloading shotgun shells during January at the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Lake City Shooting Range near Buckner. The free classes will provide introductions to skills that can help enthusiasts enjoy safe firearms use.
A handgun pistol care and cleaning course will be offered from 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15. This course will help participants learn the basics for care and cleaning of handguns. Participants are asked to bring their unloaded handgun, and owner’s manual if they have one. They will not be allowed to bring any ammunition into the classroom. Basic handgun safety, operation, safe storage, and shooting fundamentals will also be covered. COVID-19 safety precautions will be observed. This class is for participants ages 18 and older. Lake City will offer a shotgun shell reloading class from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. The course will cover all the supplies, equipment, and techniques needed to reload ammunition for shotguns. Participants will have some hands-on experience reloading. MDC will supply all the materials and equipment needed in the class. This class is for ages 21 and older. COVID-19 safety precautions will be observed. Registration is required.
