Kansas City, Mo. – Migrating songbirds and early-blooming wildflowers are fleeting and make the first weeks of spring unique. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer free Birds & Blooms programs from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center in Blue Springs.
The Birds & Blooms program will help participants understand the songbirds and wildflowers making the transition from winter to spring. Instructor Lisa Richter, MDC naturalist, will offer beginning birding tips, crafts, and wildflower walks through the woodlands on Burr Oak Woods trails.

MDC’s Burr Oak Woods Nature Center will offer several programs this spring to help people and families connect with nature. Plus, the area has several trails through forest, woodland, and grassland ecosystems that are open for hiking during the daylight hours. Some trails are accessible for those with mobility challenges.
