JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites the public to an informational meeting on urban deer management at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Runge Conservation Nature Center.
MDC staff will provide attendees with information about managing deer numbers in cities and suburbs. As human and deer populations in Missouri have grown together, urban residents are challenged to manage deer numbers at levels that minimize problems.
Missouri has nearly 520,000 deer hunters and almost two million wildlife watchers who enjoy deer. Activities related to deer hunting and watching annually generates $1 billion in economic activity for thousands of Missouri businesses and hundreds of communities around the state, and support more than 12,000 Missouri jobs.

Runge Nature Center is located on Hwy 179 in Jefferson City approximately one-half mile north of Hwy 50. Building hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The building is closed on Sunday and Monday. The outdoor trails are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
