KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free workshop on intermediate-level fly tying, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Jan. 20, at the MDC Northeast Regional Office, 3500 South Baltimore Road in Kirksville.

MDC invites anyone age 12 and older to register for this free clinic, but participants must already have basic knowledge of fly tying. Upon registration, MDC will send a supplies list. Participants are expected to bring their own supplies if possible, as MDC will only be able to provide a limited amount onsite. Participants should also bring reading glasses if they use them.

Learning to tie flies offers Missourians a way to enjoy the art of fishing by preparing gear for spring fishing trips. Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to register early by visiting the MDC online event site at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/153496. All participants must register by noon on Jan. 19.

Fishing is a great way for everyone to have fun outdoors, learn about conservation, and make lasting memories together. Discover Nature Fishing programs help Missourians gain the skills and confidence to enjoy fishing opportunities on their own.
