COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites anglers of all ages to a free family fishing clinic in Columbia Sept. 11. The Discover Nature – Fishing (DNF) workshop will cover the basics of fishing from tackle to knot-tying, and participants will gain the skills and confidence to go fishing on their own.

This clinic will take place from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Bass Pro Lake, 3101 Bass Pro Drive in Columbia.

DNF programs focus primarily on teaching kids 6 – 15 years of age about fishing  with an emphasis on family involvement.  All children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must preregister for each lesson by visiting mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/169202.

Participants over age 15 must possess a fishing license in order to participate in the fishing portion. MDC will provide all necessary equipment including fishing poles and tackle. Participants should wear clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor and water activities.

For more information about this clinic, contact MDC Conservation Educator Rhys McCracken at Rhys.McCracken@mdc.mo.gov or (573) 815-7901, ext. 2866.
