MDC events in Springfield, Joplin invite people to take a break from holiday frenzy

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Two upcoming Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) events will offer people relaxing respites from the hustle and bustle of this season.

Springfield: From 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, people are invited to drop by MDC’s Springfield Conservation Nature Center to enjoy a quiet, old-fashion holiday evening. Enjoy hot chocolate by a crackling fire and browse through the nature center’s gift shop and exhibits. The nature center’s trails will also be open so bring a flashlight and a walking partner to enjoy an evening stroll. The trails will be patrolled by nature center staff. No registration is required for this event. For more information, call 417-888-4237. The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is located in southeast Springfield at 4601 S. Nature Center Way.

Joplin: From 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, people are invited to a Holiday Open House event at MDC’s Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center. Enjoy light refreshments and holiday activities for children. The Wildcat Glades Friends Group will also have the Wildcat Glades Nature Store open for shopping.
