St. Joseph, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has completed repairs to the Dalton Bottoms Access to the Missouri River south of Keytesville. Anglers and hunters will find the entrance road open and the boat ramp usable for the fall seasons.
In 2019, flooding breeched a federal levee section at the access in Chariton County. The entrance road, parking lot, and concrete structures suffered heavy scour damage. MDC crews replaced two feet of materials in the parking lot, removed damaged concrete, and replaced a concrete sidewalk and restroom pad. The boat ramp remained intact, but crews replaced riprap upstream and downstream of the ramp, said Blaine Adams, MDC infrastructure maintenance regional supervisor.
Repairs to the entrance road and access were delayed until the damaged federal levee could be repaired by a private contractor. Once the levee was repaired, MDC staff rebuilt the entrance road and parking lot. Repairs were completed on Aug. 26, Adams said.
