MDC announces Nov. 25-26 building closures in Kansas City and northwest regions

Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will close public use buildings and staffed shooting ranges on Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26, for Thanksgiving.

In the KC Metro, these closures will include MDC’s Kansas City Regional Office in Lee’s Summit, Burr Oak Woods Nature Center building in Blue Springs, Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center in Kansas City, Parma Woods Shooting Range near Parkville, and Lake City Shooting Range near Buckner.

Hiking trails and conservation areas will remain open for outdoor use at the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area, Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area and at Parma Woods. MDC’s outdoor native plant garden and walking paths will remain open to visitors at the Gorman Discovery Center.

In St. Joseph, MDC’s Northwest Regional Office will be closed. Trails near the office will remain open for use. MDC’s Mark Youngdahl Urban Conservation Area in St. Joseph also has hiking trails available for visitors.

MDC offices in Chillicothe, Clinton, Sedalia, and El Dorado Springs will be closed on both days.

All MDC conservation areas, fishing accesses, and unstaffed shooting ranges remain open for outdoor recreation. For more information about MDC outdoor recreation opportunities, visit http://mdc.mo.gov.
