COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites all ages to share in a unique opportunity in Columbia this weekend. The Discover Nature Primitive Skills Day will offer a variety of exhibits where participants can learn the basics of historic skills.
Activity stations will include atlatl, archery, fire-making, native plants, muzzle-loading firearms, Missouri wildlife identification, and flint knapping.
“From hunting to camping, participants can incorporate these primitive techniques to enhance their next outdoor adventure,” said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Brian Flowers. “MDC staff and experienced volunteers will lead a variety of hands-on skills activities that are designed for all ages.”
Primitive Skills Day exhibits and stations will be open Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the MDC Central Region Office, 3500 East Gans Road, in Columbia.
