KIRKWOOD, Mo.—Nature may be nothing to trivialize, but what could be wrong with having a nature trivia night?  The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering a natural take on a popular activity.

MDC’s Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center is hosting From Alligator Snappers to Zebra Mussels- A Missouri Conservation Trivia Night on Friday night, Feb. 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to ages 16 and up.

Did you know that there are two types of snapping turtles in Missouri? That Missouri has endangered ecosystems in our state?  Nature buffs can put their nature knowledge to the test and learn more at the same time at this conservation-themed trivia night.  With categories from Winter Wonders to Ready, Set, Go!, let MDC challenge your knowledge of conservation in Missouri from A to Z.

Participants can gather a group of five-to-six and come ready to have fun answering some conservation conundrums.  There will even be some special prizes.  Attendees are also welcome to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to enhance the evening.  They can also come early at 6 p.m. to decorate their tables if they choose, just like the other trivia night events.

From Alligator Snappers to Zebra Mussels- A Missouri Conservation Trivia Night is a free event, however, advanced online registration is required at https://short.mdc.mo.gov/4Zn. Participants should register each person in their group separately; all attendees must be registered prior to the event due to program capacity

Powder Valley Nature Center is located at 11715 Cragwold Road in Kirkwood, near the intersection of I-270 and I-44.

As this is an in-person activity, MDC asks all participants to observe current local social distancing and masking guidelines. Bringing and wearing face coverings is encouraged when appropriate.

Program registrants should note that families now have the option to link their children’s accounts to their own which will streamline the program registration process. Once a group account is set up, parents will be able to register their children to an event without having to logoff and login for each person. This allows parents to register an entire family or select family members to an event at the same time.
