CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Naturalists at the Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center are gearing up for the Center’s big fall production, “Alien Invaders.” The event is focused on bringing attention to exotic and invasive species that are bad for Missouri. To facilitate as many visitors as possible, the event is scheduled for two evenings. Families can catch “Alien Invaders” on Oct. 25or 26 and join in the battle against the aliens.
Based on the Men in Black (MIB) movie series, the event will educate visitors on the damage caused by exotic and invasive species to Missouri’s fish, forests and wildlife. The audience will be empowered to help in the quest to reduce and eliminate these species.
“During 30-minute guided walks, you’ll encounter non-native species agents and each of them will teach tricks to eliminate the invaders,” explained MDC Naturalist Jake Hindman. “If you love the Men in Black movies, you’ll love Alien Invaders!”
Indoors, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities, including invasive species games, crafts, and face painting.
“Come out and help us defend Missouri from invaders,” Hindman said.
Free tickets for guided tours will be available upon entry to the Nature Center at 6 p.m. both evenings on a first-come-first-served basis.
