KIRKWOOD, Mo.—The Fishin’ Magicians are coming to Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center . . . and they’ll be doing some fly fishing. Butterfly fishing, that is.
The Fishin’ Magicians, the comic duo of Amy Short and Steve Craig, entertain audiences with an educational mix of magic, mystery, and nature. They will be performing their unique Butterfly Magic program at the nature center in Kirkwood Friday, May 13. The show starts at 7 p.m. and is free and appropriate for all ages. Instead of focusing on fishing this time around, they’ll explore one of nature’s most amazing magic tricks.
How does an egg transform into a larva, a larva become a pupa, and a butterfly appear out of a pupa? Is it magic? Is it science? Or maybe a little bit of both?
The Fishin’ Magicians make learning this basic science fun for the whole family by using magic, puppets and humor. Visitors will join the adventure with them and Pipevine, the caterpillar, as they reveal nature’s mysteries. Participants will also come away with a better understanding of the importance of butterflies and caterpillars in our ecosystem.
