BLAIRSTOWN, Mo. – Hunters age 9 through 15 who want to learn about turkey hunting can register for a youth turkey hunting clinic to be held on April 5. The clinic is cosponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and Everhart's Wilderness Lodge. It will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lodge, which is northwest of Clinton.

PUXICO, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) announces construction is slated to begin March 17 on boat ramps and fishing docks on Pool 1 at Duck Creek Conservation Area (CA).

Duck Creek Manager Keith Cordell said area users should be prepared for possible detours around Pool 1 during the construction. The purpose of the construction is to improve motorboat access to Pool 1 by renovating the two existing south boat ramps, and to add two covered ADA-accessible floating fishing platforms.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – In the midst of current trends of stone-age diets and organic meals, primitive tools and skills are on the rise as well.

“It’s incredible to think that cordless drills existed thousands of years ago,” said Sara Turner, manager of the Missouir Department of Conservation's (MDC) Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. “We rely so heavily on electricity and modern comforts, but people seem to be more and more curious of how to do things without electricity.”
