JEFFERSON CITY, Mo -- It will be a year of anniversaries at the 2012 Missouri State Fair. As the Missouri State Fair commemorates 110 years of celebrating the state’s outdoors and rural lifestyles, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will be celebrating its own 75-year anniversary of serving nature and you. The Missouri State Fair, with the theme of “Celebrate Then & WOW,” will run from Aug. 9-19 in Sedalia.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – On July 12, Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) commissioners were at MidwayUSA to present owners Larry and Brenda Potterfield a proclamation for 35 years of serving customers and MidwayUSA’s continued support of the shooting sports industry, wildlife conservation, preservation and hunter safety programs.
St. Charles Co, Mo. — The Missouri Tree Farm Committee recently recognized two Saint Charles County landowners for 25 years each of good forest management and involvement in the American Tree Farm System.
STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. — Some people love a good fight. Others have to be fired up. When Private Lands Conservationist Jan Dellamano, with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), thinks about the harm caused to wildlife and livestock by invasive spotted knapweed, he gets fired up.
“The only good thing about the flowering stage of this weed is that it helps in identifying it so we can get rid of it,” Dellamano said.
And now is just the right time to look for these offensive blooms. Dellamano says when you find it, there’s just one thing to do. Kill it.
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. – Carey, Mike and Kevin Riley of Callaway County have been recognized by The Missouri Tree Farm Committee for 25 years of good forest management and involvement in the American Tree Farm System (ATFS). Through their actions, the Riley brothers have demonstrated commitment to the four cornerstones that make up the ATFS: wood, water, wildlife and recreation.
TEXAS COUNTY, Mo -- Texas County landowner John Powell has been recognized by The Missouri Tree Farm Committee for 50 years of good forest management and involvement in the American Tree Farm system. Through his oversight and actions, Powell has demonstrated commitment to the four cornerstones of wood, water, wildlife and recreation that make up the American Tree Farm System.
