BLUE SPRINGS Mo -- The Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) Burr Oak Woods Nature Center at Blue Springs is hosting its annual photo contest. Visitors hiking the trails or walking through the woodlands and prairie take photographs through the changing seasons. This contest is a chance to publicly display pictures of landscapes, wildlife, people or events at the area.

March 1 marks the start of the catch-and-keep fishing season at hatchery-stocked trout parks, and thousands of anglers have been making the pilgrimage to Missouri’s trout temples on that date for more than 70 years.

KANSAS CITY Mo -- Technology will bring the country into the city for land managers who want to give two of America’s most popular game birds a boost. Wildlife habitat improvement tips will be center stage along with hunting dogs, gear and guns at the National Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic Feb. 17, 18 and 19 at Bartle Hall in Kansas City.

CLINTON Mo -- A wildlife workshop featuring white-tailed deer, bobwhite quail and habitat management will be offered 1 to 7 p.m. on March 3 at the Elks Lodge in Clinton.

Jason Sumners, deer biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), will talk about “Quality Deer Management.” Sumners will talk about how property owners can utilize habitat and deer herd management to achieve goals for their land.
